There always comes a time in your life when you ask yourself what do I want to be ?...Well Ever since I was a toddler learning to walk and talk I had always dream t of becoming a pilot. I knew that nothing in life would give me as much gratification as I would get from the sheer exhilaration of being able to fly. I had made up my mind,I knew this is what i wanted to do,I was ready to take the leap of faith at least that's what I had thought. However soon I found out that trying to follow in my fathers footsteps is going to be anything but easy. Boy oh boy was I in for a real taste of reality. Lets face it becoming a pilot is not every ones cup of tea. From what ever I have experienced in this field I can tell you this much that no matter from where the pilot is from HE or SHE has had to go through the grind to wear that coveted uniform.Its a tough decision deciding on a career as a commercial airline pilot.Some of the reasons why I feel so are:
1) Due to the economic recession the present picture of the aviation industry is not a pretty one.But things are expected to improve in the coming years.
2)The cost of training is quite steep as fuel costs increase the world over. So u gotta have a big wallet to pay the bills.
3)Choosing the right aviation college or flight school is another painstaking task as different courses are offered with different criteria. So choosing the right one for you can get tiresome.
4)The complexity of the license examinations and requirements are quite unique and have many loop holds which one should be aware of.
5)Like in any other field now a days competition is fierce and employment is not guaranteed. Netting that first job after getting the License is always the tough one.
6)Finally you have to ask yourself if you are up for the challenge ! ....like I said this is not every ones cup of tea.
When u manage to sort out all this you should be ready to take the next step.....
